Good morning and welcome! I received this book from an estate of my mother. This is Mark Twain‘s life on the Mississippi, it states that this is a special edition that has a number of previously suppressed passages that are now printed for the first time in this addition. Copyright, 1944, by the Mark Twain company. The special contents of this addition copyright 1944 by the limited additions club. I see no ripped pages, no stains, no writings on the pages, the binding looks perfect except for a small bit of fraying at the top of the binding very minute. No loose pages that I can see. This book also comes with a issue of the monthly members of the heritage club newsletter called the sand glass which talks about Life on the Mississippi.
