Brought home from France by my grandmother, this teamaking set has been in the family since well before I was born. Kitchenware with this detailing was manufactured by the French between the late 19th and the mid-20th centuries, so chances are good that it's a bona fide antique. The metal is probably pewter or tinplate, though some sources indicate steel. The sizes below are approximate. KETTLE FEATURES: - 14.5" tall with handle x 14" wide with nozzle - 10” diameter - 2 gallon capacity - Original bamboo with no breaks or missing pieces JUG FEATURES: - 7" tall x 6” wide - 4.5” diameter - 1 quart capacity - Hinged lid - Bottom stamped with capacity and country of origin - Several horizontal stripes of original bamboo are missing at bottom of handle The set was allowed to age naturally and has a gorgeous patina along with a variety of marks and scuffs, all combining to give it inimitable character and charm. Please see pictures, and NOTE that both pieces have some rust on the inside.
