A very early Royal Doulton seriesware jug, TUDOR shape, in the rarely seen Nighwatchman series, the motto depicted is "Watchman, What of the Night?" - one of the earliest of the seriesware patterns. This old piece in the Tudor shape was registered in 1901 and produced between 1902-1922. You will wait a VERY LONG TIME to see another. There is a slight chip on the spout on the jug (see pictures)
