commemorates the visit of Saint Pope John Paul II to New Orleans in 1987. The Vatican commissioned a Special Limited Edition Gold Plated Medallion for his visit. Eminent supporters of the Catholic Church were presented this medallion as a token of appreciation. This medallion was not offered to the general public. Each medallion was Blessed by Pope John Paul II. The obverse (front) carries a depiction of Pope John Paul II reaching out to the Our Lady Of Prompt Succor Statue, located at the Old Ursuline Convent in the historic French Quarter of New Orleans with the St. Louis Cathedral behind the statue, underneath a crescent moon. The inscription is: "John Paul II Visit New Orleans 1987". The reverse features a Brown Pelican with three baby pelicans inscribed: "Unity In The Work Of Service".
