Up for sale is an incredible vivid impressionist oil painting on canvas by listed Navajo artist, Johnny Yazzie (1945-2021). The painting depicts a nocturnal pueblo scene in winter. I love the hazy purple clouds covering the moon. Incredible scene. Yazzie was born on the Navajo reservation east of Tuba City, Arizona. His father was a medicine man and his mother was a traditional weaver. Yazzie attended the Institute of American Indian Arts and the College of Santa Fe. He is considered one of the most successful contemporary Native American artists in the US, with multiple awards, exhibitions and auction records. The painting is signed at lower right by Yazzie, dated '89 and includes his trademark buffalo skull appended to his signature. The painting is in excellent condition. The frame has some minor/moderate scuffing on the sides. Painting measures 12 inches wide x 9 inches high. Frame measures approximately 14.25 inches wide x 11.25 inches high.
