This is a specimen of Clay Canyon Variscite from the Little Green Monster Mine in Utah. Specimens from this locality are famous for their beautiful nodules of green Variscite with Wardite, Crandallite, and sometimes Montgomeryite. Clay Canyon Variscites are extremely desirable and sought-after as the mine was only open and producing this material from 1937-1940 and is no longer accessible. The entrances to the mine and the dumps have been bulldozed to match the contour of the surrounding hills. The material is distinctive when compared to variscite from other localities. This exquisite specimen has yellow Crandallite, grey Wardite and a bit of blue-green Variscite. This nodule has been polished on one side and the rest left rough. Can be displayed as a specimen or cut into slabs and/or cabochons. Photos taken dry in full sunlight and shade. See the last two pictures for dimensions and weight.
