This jewelry box was made in Shanghai, China probably around the 1960's or 70's. The box is wood with a black enamel finish. The top is decorated with gold hand painting and carved stone or faux stone, no sure, of a woman in triditional Chinese dress. Her robe has hand painting as does her face. Not sure what the carving is next to her, maybe are rock or tree . The corners and edges have etched brass detail. It measures 7 7/8" L X 5 7/8" D X 3" H. The inside has a red satin lining. Mirror on the lid. 2 ring sections and a square and rectangle compartment. I purchased it new not long ago. It's not brass but the size and color work very well with it. The interior is like new. The exterior was extremely dirty.
