First edition (print number not stated) hardcover copy of Gods in Exile by J. J. van der Leeuw (Theosophical Press, 1926). Rare antique occult / mystical / religious / spirituality text by the Dutch theosophist and philosopher. He helped found the group The Order of the Star in the East with Jiddu Krishnamurti, studies under occultist C.W. Leadbeater, and became a priest in the Liberal Catholic Church. One of many searchers who sought to find a fitting fusion of eastern spirituality, western Judeo-Christian beliefs, and other more mystical groups. Mild wear to covers, especially to edges and corners which are bumped and a bit frayed. Very subtle spotty discoloration to covers. Binding material is faintly visible in a few gutters, though spine is straight and binding remains fairly strong on the whole. All pages clean and unmarked though tanned. See photos for condition.
