Most troubleshooting steps have already been taken, including repairing the startup disk, resetting NVRAM, reinstalling Mac OS from Recovery, etc. When powering on, the computer shows the folder with a question mark. Attached are pictures from the MacBook’s Disk Utility, which shows that the Hard Drive is not being recognized. Occasionally, the MacBook is able to mount the Hard Drive and get logged in, so it will be reset to factory settings before shipping. Besides the hard drive everything else functions correctly, including the keyboard, trackpad and camera. No cosmetic damage at all.
